Installing Microsoft SQL Server 2008 for the Webtrends Master Database
Installation instructions for SQL Server 2008 as a Webtrends Master Database.
The Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise Edition installation must be
installed on a system dedicated to storing and supporting only Webtrends-related
databases. While SQL Server Standard or Enterprise Edition can maintain multiple
databases, the system resource and configuration requirements of the Webtrends
database server environment demand a dedicated server to assure proper
performance and reliability.
Note: The SQL Server
2008 Standard or Enterprise Edition must be installed on a separate system
from the Webtrends Analysis server. The Webtrends master database server
should be a standalone database server. You must run the installation of the
Webtrends master database component from the computer where your SQL Server
2008 Standard or Enterprise Edition is installed in order for the upgrade
process to work properly.
If you plan to use SQL Server Standard or Enterprise Edition for your Webtrends master database, you must follow the installation protocol:
- Select English as the default language when you install SQL Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise Edition.
- Install the SQL Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise Edition software before beginning any Webtrends product installation.
- Before installing any Webtrends Analytics components, install the Webtrends master database on the same computer where the SQL Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise Edition was installed.
